Hien & Mike’s Reception setup at Kum Koon Garden. Twelve of us worked with precision, each person performed a particular task to get this result.
Two-tiered Head-table setup: What’s the best way to seat your and Groom’s family as well as the wedding party on a Head-Table; make it two-tiered ! Everyone’s included and everyone’s Happy ! Yippee!
Photo Booth: A photo booth doesn’t have to deviate from the general theme of your Event, in this case we carried the same tie-up pattern as well as the same color of the drapes as the Backdrop for the Head Table 🙂
Welcome Table: A well appointed Welcome table is a step in the right direction, to make that coveted 1st impression on your guests, just when they enter the venue ! (DIY’ers: We used Champagne sequins tablecloth and White chair covers.)
Another Majestic Setup: Red & Gold an all time favorite for EAST INDIAN weddings. RED & GOLD colors are an epitome for Royalty in the Indian Culture. Moreover, Red has been the go to color for the Bride, for centuries as it symbolizes prosperity and fertility(gives you a good start there!!).
Engagement session: We think a Chandelier quadruples the appeal of a stage setup; in this case we used Gold Sequins in the backdrop which bounce back the light from the chandelier. Although that’s not a rule of thumb, usually for an engagement session we always recommend two separate chairs(wink) and then a Loveseat for a Reception setup(wink-wink)!! Then, all depends on, what goes with the setup as a whole!!
Aman is my partner in life and in this business: she is our in-house designer, you meet her when you come in for a consult. When Ajaypal & his family came for the first meet, we get to know that their color was Blue. There are so many shades of all these colors, I forget the names, so, if you’re in a meeting just with me, I’ll just call all the blues as Blue(I’ll take pictures of all the colors you like, so that there’s no mistake made) I guess that’s why she’s in my life; to distinguish all the colors. Back to the topic on hand, they also wanted some Gold in the Backdrop. Above is what she came up with as an idea, so, I had to go shop for these Globes. Guess what? They don’t just come in one size but like 6 different sizes, zeroed in on these babies. Took us like 1.5 hours to make this from paper to reality. One of my personal favorites. Below is the picture of it with up-lights.
What would have been the color of the up-lights, some kind of Blue 🙂 I am adding these captions to all these pictures; I don’t know if these new Captions are going to survive once she checks the website and forces me to delete them. Until that time, these stay on the Web 🙂
Raman’s Ladies sangeet. We came up with this idea, he’s going to get married soon to Jasdeep. Sangeet ceremony happens on both sides; Girl’s and Boy’s(would-be Bride & Groom) So, once he see’s our backdrop, we wanted it to remind of her. Here, we used the drapes and actually made two braids(okay plaits) just like a Punjabi girl would have(okay, you can have any style of hair, no hard & fast rules, we just went with that style) It took us a long time the first time we practiced it. But because of that practice, it was a breeze at the Punjab Cultural Centre.
How beautiful is our Chandelier. Oh man! It’s a beauty. Here’s a few pictures we got from our Photographer Friends at Bhandal Video. A professional photographer’s camera is no match to our i-phones, oops, the other way around :))
Here’s a close-up of the Braid aka Plait. Even put jewels on it, like it needed anything else to make it even prettier. Photo Credit: Bhandal Video
Seating and cushions are a must for all the beautifully dressed ladies that want to sing their hearts out, either suhaag songs or other culturally appropriate ones. They sit for long time & really get into the groove with Dholkis and all, you wanna make sure the posteriors are on a comfortable surface. We have an assortment of Cushions and Mattresses for this very reason.
We have tons of cultural items that we use as props, this is one of them. It’s a decorated small CHAJJ(Panjabi word) it’s used to separate wheat from chaff. See, some similarity in English and Punjabi Chajj for Chaff 🙂
Lamia & Jamal’s wedding reception setup. This is at Punjab Cultural Centre in 2017. Never met Jamal in person, even on the day of the event(We setup the event for you way before you & your guests show up, unless the guests show up early). He was in Vancouver, we in Manitoba, all the conversation was through e-mails and phone calls. Our point of contact here was Sophia, we met her at PCC, went over all the ideas that she and Jamal had. Isn’t this setup just a show stopper!
We draped the whole hall with White drapes and got a Lamia & Jamal sign for the dance floor. Color of the wedding was Silver and Blue. It was in 2017, am writing about it in 2021, in the middle of a pandemic, but it seems like it was just yesterday. No wonder they say: Time flies. Our kid would say at this time, who’s “they” ? Ha ha ha
